The Keeper
An Antihero's Journey Into
and Beyond the Bizarre.
A crusty old gravedigger hates life. He talks to the dead. They talk back. He tends an isolated section of Sydney's oldest cemetery. The only graves in it are those of seven members of the First Fleet.
All committed suicide. All are buried next to each other. It is the gateway to Hell. The Keeper wants to destroy Hell and its temptation to the young - a shimmering silver light which attracts suicide. To do that, he must get to Hell.
To do that, he must kill himself and be buried next to the seven. Unfortunately he botches the job and ends up in Heaven, which is not his idea of paradise.
Soon enough he is thrown out of Heaven and at last lands in Hell. The only way to destroy the silver light, its temptation and Hell itself is to desperately want to live once more. He now does. And finds himself right back where he started.
